In My Mailbox #3

Hello!
I have just returned from the library, and I got a huge stack of books! I need to be ready for the Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon starting next week, don't I? Here they are for you to see:

Uglies- Scott Westerfield

Series: Uglies #1
Pages: 425
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Goodreads Rating: 3.88
The Blurb:
Everybody gets to be supermodel gorgeous. What could be wrong with that? Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. Not for her license -- for turning pretty. In Tally's world, your sixteenth birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellent ugly into a stunningly attractive pretty and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is to have a really great time. In just a few weeks Tally will be there.
But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty. She'd rather risk life on the outside. When Shay runs away, Tally learns about a whole new side of the pretty world and it isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally the worst choice she can imagine: find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.

My Opinion: A dystopian! I love those! I have heard very good critics about this one, although one friend of mine read it and didn't like it much. Let's see what I think!

Perfect Chemistry- Simone Elkeles

Series: Perfect Chemistry #1
Pages: 360
Publisher: Walker Books For Young Readers
Goodreads Rating: 4.26
The Blurb:
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.

Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.

In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.

My Opinion: Finally! I have been wanting to read this one since one of my best friends did and told me it was amazing. I can't wait to tell you about it!

My Blood Approves- Amanda Hocking

Series: My Blood Approves #1
Pages: 261
Publisher: Lulu
Goodreads: 3.90
The Blurb:
Teenager Alice Bonham's life feels crazy after she meets Jack. With his fondness for pink Chuck Taylors and New Wave, he's unlike anyone she knows. Then she meets his brother, Peter. Even though he can't stand the sight of her, she's drawn to him. Falling for two guys isn't even the worst of her problems. Jack and Peter are vampires, and Alice finds herself caught between love and her own blood

My Opinion: This one was self-published in Amazon and it became a great hit, so it must be really good (you know, it got famous without all the publicity publishing houses do). And a brother love triangle is one of the best things that have happened to Young Adult!

Abandon- Meg Cabot

Series: Abandon Trilogy #1
Pages: 304
Publisher: Point
Goodreads: 3.72
The Blurb:
New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

My Opinion: Persephone retelling maybe? I love greek mythology retellings!! Besides, Meg Cabot is such a good writer! I have only read the Princess Diaries by her, but they were fantastic.

This Lullaby- Sarah Dessen

Pages: 345
Publisher: Speak
Goodreads Rating: 4.10
The Blurb:
When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn't mess around. After all, she's learned all there is to know from her mother, who's currently working on husband number five. But there's something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy's rules. He certainly doesn't seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can't seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy's starting to understand what those love songs are all about?

My Opinion: My first Sarah Dessen book! No need to say, it wasn't because I didn't want to, but because they weren't published here in Spain!

Tatuaje- Ana Alonso & Javier Pelegrín (This Book is in Spanish, I'll translite the blurb myself)

Series: Tatuaje #1
Pages: 427
Publisher: Viceversa Juvenil
Goodreads Rating: 3.11
The Blurb:
Some tatoos are something more than a simple ornament on the skin. Their magic could unite you forver to the person you love... or forbid you to touch them and turn into your worst nightmare.

Alex is sixteen years old and he's madly in love with a mysterious girl in his class, Jana. He never could have imagined that after following her after a party, his life would change would change so much. Jana, an orphan, lives with his brother , David, and it is rumoured that they both get by thanks to the weirdest job: the one of magic tatoos.

Alex will see their power, that will take him to discover the existence of the medu clans. This unnerving creatures have lived for a long time among humans and fighting against themselves, but now they know that they must unite to defeat their most feared enemy: the Last Guardian, destined to erase the clans from the Earth's surface.

My Opinion: I don't know what to think. Spanish YA books aren't my favourites, but who knows? Maybe I will love it!

What's your opinion? Any thoughts? I would love to hear them!
